Further it helps in reducing corruption at the political level as well as non developmental expenditure incurred on irregular elections. What are the issues with Antidefection law? Issues in the prevalent idea of Antidefection  Restricts freedom of speech and expression of legislators The law puts the members of the party into a bracket of obedience in accordance with the rules and policies of the party restricting the legislators freedom to oppose any acts policies leaders or bills of the party. o In essence disqualification on grounds of defection which may actually be a valid dissent blurs the distinction between the defection and dissent.Reduces accountability of elected representatives In Indias parliamentary democracy the legislatures check on the executive remains weak due to reasons like absence of effective opposition and the executive being part of the legislature. o By curbing dissent antidefection law further undermines the executives accountability to the legislature Junior Science refresher buy.
